Our Independent Living program assists individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to achieve a greater level of independence by providing efficient services tailored to their needs. We work closely with individuals to identify their preferences, strengths, needs, and further desired lifestyle in all areas they would like to see themselves achieve. We offer functional skills training to enhance the quality of life by providing the necessary tools and support to maintain and strengthen their desired lifestyle. Participants in our program have the opportunity to learn the following skills.


Grocery shopping, meal planning & prep, cooking, cleaning & laundry, home organization, establishing daily routines, time management, self-care, health and fitness and more.

Budgeting & saving, money management, purchasing skills, applying for benefits such as SSI/Social Security & CalFresh, Health insurance assistance, Housing resources, Dial-A-Ride & other transportation resources, Accessing medical, dental & other community resources and more.

Navigating public transportation, community safety & emergency preparedness, Self-advocacy, social & communication skills, college & educational assistance, employment/job-readiness assistance, volunteering, recreation & community participation, emotional wellness/mental health resource navigation & support and more.

Developing independent living skills, practicing & maintaining learned skills, problem-solving & decision making, increased confidence & independence at home & in the community, learning how to access community resources, supporting progress towards individualized IPP goals
